Just got back from a great day preaching in East Berkshire. A great group of people with awesome worship. I love visiting friends up there and filling in for their pastor.
Today we looked at the difference between BEING Christ like and doing Jesus stuff. A lot of times we run around doing all kinds of good things for people because it’s the right thing to do. The disciples did that too, but missed the lesson that Jesus taught, servant hood!
We do a lot of good things, but would we if no one was looking? We visit people because its the right thing to do, but would we give of our time until it hurts and takes away from the things we plan? We give when the need arises or our emotions get the best of us, but would we give everything away for the betterment of another human being? Just because we felt led to.
Jesus did! He gave it all for us. He also told us to go and do likewise. That is being Christ like. It is about BEING more than doing. Loving our neighbors as we love ourselves. What a world it would be if like Jesus we always thought of others before we thought of ourselves.
